I recently joined the Daughters of the American Revolution.  I used my direct ancestor, Major Weight Hopkins, as my patriot to join.  I am researching his life - a personal interest.  I have found he was killed by a few British officers and a bunch of their Indian allies on 14 Mile Island.  I have found a couple of places mentioning his death.  He and a few soldiers accompanied some women and children to the island to gather berries and other food items for the Continental Army.  They were…See More
